My father, Pat, and mother, Annabel, are my motivation for fundraising and completing my first year at the RIDE TO END ALZ. Both of my parents were incredible marathoners and triathletes. They even competed against each other in a marathon. My father completed Ironman Kona Triathlon in 1983, beating 87 percent of the contestants. His finish time was 11:31. I will ride each mile for them and all those affected by Alzheimer's.
My father (Mr. B) and my mother have been fighters since the first day they were diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. My father passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease. My father had fought this battle with a ton of courage. My mother will eventually lose memories. If no cure is found, then my mother will ultimately pass from complications of Alzheimer's disease as well. It will probably be one of the most challenging moments in my life that I will have to face.
I am not only riding for them but honoring their courage and strength. I tell myself daily that if they can fight, I can fight just as hard for them and others who suffer from this disease.
Your donation and your support mean the world to my family and all the other families dealing with someone who has Alzheimer's disease. Showing support will help advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer's. Thank you for cheering me on! I do not know what I would do without all your support! So much love! Now let's #RIDE2ENDALZ!!!
