Por qué viajo: As many of you know, we lost my dad in 2023 due to complications from Alzheimer's. It seems we all have personal accounts and struggles as we watch our loved ones transform into people we no longer know - and they no longer know us.
Pictures, such as this one of Dad and I, always make me smile as I remember him. (Perhaps many of you aren't aware that Dad and I shared a birthday (along with Uncle Bud!)).
I am inspired and humbled by those who live with the disease and muchos de ustedes who provide care, support and love for those inflicted. I am also inspired by science and all my Lilly colleagues who are pushing for a cure for this disease.
Riding a bicycle is how I reconnect with myself, nature and those around me and is one of the most fitting ways for me to honor Dad. It is also one of the best ways I can personally help fight the battle to end Alzheimer's - to raise funds for the cause and is why I am asking for your support. I am participating in the Ride to End ALZ®, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
I am planning to ride the longest (65) mile route in the Ride to End ALZ fundraiser October 13, taking place in Maple Grove, MN. I would be incredibly grateful if you would choose to either join me in the ride (there are 10, 20, 35, 50 and 65 mile options) or make a donation.
¡Gracias por animarme!
