I am riding to honor my Father-In-Law, Thomas J. Smalley, who was afflicted with this heinous disease in the prime of his golden years. He was a thoughtful and generous man, husband, and father, as well as an avid cyclist who once rode a century ride on his beach cruiser. It is particularly appropriate that I am riding in his memory. His extremely kind brother, Mike, was similarly afflicted, as were my uncle Dr. Al and sweet Aunt Audrey Goren, and my maternal grandmother, Ms. Alberta Riddell. Finally, the sweet and humble Ms. Franny Winiarski was also taken by this atrocious disease just this year. This disease SUCKS.
With each mile I ride and every dollar raised, I am confident we will get closer and closer to more treatments and ultimately finding that first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
¡Anímame!
