Ellos lo llaman "El largo adiós."
Alzheimer's disease attacks an individual's brain, destroying connections involved in memory, language, reasoning, and social behavior. The reason they call it The Long Goodbye is that these connections are dissolved gradually, so friends and family, and yes, sometimes the individual, can see the decline, notice changes, and are unable to do much about it. Ultimately, Alzheimer's is a death sentence.
Why do I walk? I walk because Alzheimer's is an unfair disease and we desperately need treatments and a cure! More than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer, and nearly twice that are unpaid caregivers. That's $340 BILLION dollars in unpaid support. And Alzheimer's isn't stopping, or even slowing. We need to take action! Nuestro futuro está en riesgo a menos que encontremos una manera de cambiar el curso de esta enfermedad.
Estoy liderando el camino a Alzheimer's primer superviviente participando en el Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Juntos podemos terminar Alzheimer's disease. If you feel moved to do so, please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
