I am walking in memory of my mother Elinor, Aunt Claudette, Uncle Gerry, Grandpa Lahaie, Grandpa Mulqueeney and so many who suffer from this horrible disorder that robs people of their ability to remember loved ones and also their ability to function independently.
My mother Elinor graduated Magna Cum Laude and won an academic award for excellence about 10 years before a surge try from which she would never recover. She experienced a delirium that progressed to dementia, unfortunately, and was never the same. Thanks to a brain donation to the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, Elinor’s plight was not for nothing. She was part of a study that helped to define a new type of dementia called LATE.
Get regular moderate exercise, eat right and follow the MIND diet, and limit your alcohol intake. You won’t regret it!
